Migrate from On-Premise BIG-IP to Distributed Cloud

Most organizations do not replace BIG-IP overnight. They move Internet-facing applications to Distributed Cloud first, keep BIG-IP where it still fits best, and retire appliances as maintenance renewals come due. JustADC plans and executes that migration one application at a time, with no change to your users.

Assessment

We inventory your BIG-IP estate – virtual servers, pools and monitors, SSL profiles and certificates, iRules, ASM policies and APM access policies – and map each object to its Distributed Cloud equivalent: HTTP or TCP load balancers, origin pools and health checks, App Firewall policies, service policies and routes. The output is a migration plan that shows what moves cleanly, what needs redesign and what should stay on BIG-IP.

What maps, and what needs care

• LTM virtual servers and pools map directly to load balancers and origin pools; origins can be servers, cloud instances or, during the transition, the existing BIG-IP virtual servers themselves.
• ASM policies become App Firewall policies on Distributed Cloud, with API protection and bot defense added where they were not possible before.
• iRules are re-implemented as routes, service policies, header and URL rewrites – or retired where the platform already provides the behaviour.
• Certificates and DNS – TLS certificates can be automated or imported; we stage each application on Distributed Cloud, validate it, then cut over by DNS during a maintenance window.
• APM – access policies, SSO and VPN use cases are assessed individually; some remain on BIG-IP APM behind a CE site while others move to Distributed Cloud services.

Cutover and coexistence

Customer Edge sites in your data center let Distributed Cloud reach your existing origins, so applications can run in a hybrid state for as long as you need. We migrate in waves, watch the request and security logs for each application, and decommission the BIG-IP objects only after the application has proven itself on the new platform. Every migration ends with knowledge transfer and documentation of the target design.
